At the meeting, Deputy Auditor-General Bui Quoc Dzung congratulated SAI Finland for successful organisation of the meeting of INTOSAI WGEA, affirming this visit provides an opportunity for SAV to exchange experience with other SAIs, international organisations and experts. It is an event of large scale with the participation of more than 40 SAIs and international organisations as well as experts in auditing and environment.
Mr. Dzung emphasized, the year 2023 marks a significant milestone as the two countries celebrate 50
th year anniversary of their diplomatic relations (1973-2023), witnessing the multi-faceted bilateral relationships more robust and in-depth. This conclusion can particularly be demonstrated by the official high-level visit of Chairman of the National Assembly Vuong Dinh Hue to Finland in September 2021. The visit contributed to enhance mutual political trust and understanding, generating much further motivations for the two nations’ relationship. Trade and investment between Viet Nam and Finland have witnessed impressive growth rate with two-way trade turnover increasing more than 3,5 times over the past 15 years.
SAV highly appreciated the INTOSAI WGEA Chairmanship of SAI Finland for the tenure 2020-2026 and had high hope that the cooperation between two SAIs in particular and two countries in general would further enhanced.
The Deputy Auditor-General suggested SAI Finland continue supporting SAV in the multilateral cooperation frameworks such as INTOSAI and INTOSAI WGEA; expected technical support from SAI Finland through cooperative activities, trainings for SAV in the areas of strength like climate change adaption audit in particular and environmental audit in general.
In response, Auditor General of SAI Finland Sami Ylaoutinen thanked the delegation for the beautiful words for SAI Finland, appreciated the active participation of the Delegation in the 22
nd meeting in capacity as, for the first time ever, the official member of the Working Group. As the Chair of INTOSAI WGEA, SAI Finland expressed its willingness to support for, mentor and facilitate the exchange of experience in environmental audit by SAV with other members of the Working Group.
Mr. Sami Ylaoutinen affirmed that SAI Finland always seeked for chances to further cement bilateral cooperation with SAV in all out, assuring the readiness to exchange professional experience and deliver trainings for SAV, particularly online training courses on environmental audit in the near future.
On the sideline of the 22
nd Meeting, Deputy Auditor-General Mr. Dzung also met his Chinese counterpart Feng Li. At the meeting, the two Deputy Auditors General assessed cooperation results several years back and discussed the implementation of cooperation plan in 2024, especially the preparation for the official visit of the Auditor-General of Viet Nam to China in upcoming May.
