The SAV Delegation, as ASOSAI Chairman during 2018-2021, attended the Conference of the State Parties to the United Nations Convention against corruption in Abu Dhabi, UAE from 14-15 December 2019 at the invitation of the State Audit Institution (SAI) of the UAE.

In his opening speech at the Conference, Dr. Harib Al Amimi, President of the State Audit Institution of the United Arab Emirates, warmly welcomed all delegates from INTOSAI members and international organizations. He put more emphasis on SAI’s important role in detecting and preventing corruption. The meeting, which was jointly organized by SAIs and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), is a global initiative on promoting cooperation in the fight against corruption. It is also considered as the first step to implement the Memorandum of Understanding signed in July 2019 between INTOSAI and UNODC. According to the agenda of the Conference, the delegates discussed and shared experiences on the anti-corruption strategy and action plan; risk assessment; training and development of human resources; public procurement; privatization; recruitment and cooperation opportunities for the prevention of corruption.
