During 24 February to 3 March 2008, a 3 strong team consisting of representatives from OAG-Canada and CCAF had visited Hanoi and worked with SAV regarding training opportunities for Vietnamese State auditors in Canada. The team headed by Mr. Fred Dunn, Auditor General of Alberta Province, Canada was within the framework of CCAF’s Assessment and Recruitment mission to interview candidates for participating in the 2008-2009 Fellowship.

At the welcome meeting with the team, Auditor General Vuong Dinh Hue expressed his thanks to Canadian colleagues for their kind attentions and support to SAV and then briefly presented about SAV’s recent performance and development needs. Among others, Hue informed that SAV was still quite a young agency in Vietnam with no predecessor agency. It was therefore the fact that learning and studying international lessons were key to its development and among the highest priorities in its strategic plan. Hue also stressed that Canada was a developed country and its relations with Vietnam has increasingly been promoted on various facets. In line with this, improving the cooperation between the two SAIs would be not only beneficiary to the development of the two but also contribute to strengthening the fine relationship of their nations.

After being updated by the guests about the CCAF and its relevant policies, Hue affirmed that SAV had since long been very much interested in CCAF’s international program and now really wanted to have staff members participate in the program. He hoped that such participations would help SAV build up a key force for its process of professionalism. At the same time, he committed his full support with CCAF representatives to nominating proper candidates for the mission so that the most satisfying candidates would be selected for the training program.
