(sav.gov.vn) - A delegation of the State Audit of Vietnam (SAV) led by Deputy State Auditor General Ha Thi My Dung on November 2 attended the opening ceremony of the 7th ASEAN Supreme Audit Institutions (ASEANSAI) Summit, held in Manila, the Philippines.

The opening session of the summit was presided over by the State Auditor General of the Republic of Myanmar, who also serves as the Chair of ASEANSAI for the term 2021-2023.
Vietnam attended the Summit as the Chair of the Strategic Planning Committee and a member of the Knowledge Sharing Committee of ASEANSAI.
The Summit saw the participation of 10 delegations from countries of Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
In his opening speech, Chairman of ASEANSAI and Auditor General of the Republic of Myanmar, Khin Naing Oo, stated that ASEANSAI was established 12 years ago with the aim of promoting transparency in the areas of governance and public finance management, as well as enhancing the capabilities of the member State Audit Institutions within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
The organizational structure of ASEANSAI comprises the Assembly, Executive Committee, the Secretariat, and four Committees, namely the Rules and Procedures Committee, the Strategic Planning Committee, the Knowledge Sharing Committee, and the Training Committee.
The Assembly held biennially by a rotational mechanism, serves as the highest decision-making body.
To successfully implement the ASEANSAI Strategic Plan for the 2022-2025 period and in adherence to the ASEAN Charter, the State Auditor General of the Republic of Myanmar proposes that member Supreme Audit Institutions continue to strengthen solidarity and enhance collaboration through dialogue within ASEANSAI and beyond. This concerted effort aims to achieve common goals, prioritizing the supremacy of the rule of law and fostering cooperative development.
The 7th ASEANSAI Summit comprises an opening session and two other sessions featuring 11 agenda items: Approval of the 2023 Annual Results Report; approval of the 4th Amendment of ASEANSAI Regulations; Report on the Cooperative Research on the Independence of SAIs in ASEAN Countries; Report on the Basic Guidelines for Construction Audit; appointment of the new Chair and Vice Chair of ASEANSAI; appointment and approval of ASEANSAI auditors for the 2022 and 2023 financial statements; appointment and approval of ASEANSAI Committees 2024-2025; appointment and approval of the ASEANSAI long-term Secretariat for 2024-2029; approval of the ASEANSAI Committees Work Plans for 2024-2025; endorsement of the Memorandum of Understanding with the Supreme Audit Institution of Sweden; and approval of the budget for 2024-2025 for ASEANSAI activities.
As Chair of the Strategic Planning Committee, Vietnam has led the development of the ASEANSAI Strategic Plan 2022-2025 with the vision for ASEANSAI to become a reliable, dynamic, and professional organization of Supreme Audit Institutions to promote good governance within the ASEAN region.
