On 8 October 2018 Auditing Training Institute opened “Training course on Environmental auditing” with the participation of 40 auditors of the SAV.

According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dinh Hoa, although environmental auditing is relatively new in Viet Nam, it has recently been paid considerable attention to by the government, especially after serious environment disasters. Structure organisation of environmental auditing (EA) has also been improved with the establishment of Working group on EA in 2009 and EA Division under International Cooperation Department in 2015. However, the implementation of EA has faced numerous difficulties due to inadequate human resources, techniques, especially lack of professional training program on EA.

In order to equip SAV auditors with fundamental knowledge on EA, the first EA training program of the SAV has been composed on the basis of international experience as well as manuals and guidelines of INTOSAI, ASOSAI. The training materials consist of three modules including Module 1 – Overview of environment and environmental auditing, Module 2 –Implementation of EA, and Module 3 – EA guidelines on several specific environmental topics. The training course will be held from 8 to 12 October 2018.
