On 30th October 2017, the State Audit Office of Vietnam (SAV) hosted Facilication Skill workshop under framework of Long-Term ASEANSAI Programme on ISSAI Implementation Phase 2. The workshop was attended by representatives from 07 ASEANSAI members of Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and international experts joined as the facilitator at the workshop.

Opening the workshop, SAV’s representative affirmed the improtance of ISSAI Implementation. He said: “In context of changing needs in public sector, ISSAI implementation is essential to standardize audit procedures and enhance the reliability of audit reports. Currently, ASEANSAI members have a mutual concern of bring the ISSAI implementation into practice to promte professional capacity towards an open, transparent and sustainable economy. The ISSAI framework was properly designed in four levels in 2007. It reflects INTOSAI's expectations in providing members and stakeholders regulations and guidelines for dealing with problems which arised from auditing pertaining to conduct the quality control and code of ethic management for the auditors”.
In continuation of ASEANSAI LTAPII phase 1 conducted during 2015 - 2016 which delivered concepts and applications of ISSAIs by focusing on Risk-Based Approach on Financial Audit (RBAFA) for SAIs, the Facilitation Skill Workshop was organized by SAI Malaysia (Sub project leader of LTAPII phase 2) together with SAI Philippines (Project leader of LTAPII) and SAI Indonesia (the Secretariat Function) to create a pool of certified ISSAI facilitators for ASEANSAI and promote ISSAI application individual SAI as well.

During the three days of workshop, ASEANSAI members had a forum to exchange their knowledge and experience in RBAFA. This is an opportunity for facilitators to practice their knowledge of ISSAI implementation for further applying ISSAI in respective SAIs as envisaged in strategic goals and objectives of the ASEAN Strategic Plan.
