The State Audit Office of Viet Nam participated in the 59th Governing Board meeting of ASOSAI

From September 19-22, Deputy State Auditor General Nguyen Tuan Anh led the delegation of the State Audit Office of Viet Nam (SAV) to attend the 59th Governing Board meeting of the Asian Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI), to be held in Korea.

Accompanying SAV's Deputy Auditor General were leaders from the Department of International Cooperation, Specialized Audit Department No. IV and Regional State Audit Office No. VII.  
 
SAI China - the Secretary General of ASOSAI, and SAI Thailand - the Chairman of ASOSAI, co-chaired the 59th Governing Board meeting of ASOSAI. The Board of Audit and Inspection of Korea is the host of the meeting. The State Audit Office of Viet Nam participated in the meeting as a member of ASOSAI Governing Board for the 2021-2024 tenure.
 
The meeting was graced by the presence of 18 SAI leader level delegations, including twelve members of the ASOSAI Governing Board. These include SAI Thailand (ASOSAI Chairman for the 2021–2024 tenure), SAI China (ASOSAI Secretary General), SAI Japan (ASOSAI Chairman of the Capacity Development Committee), SAI India (Chief Editor of ASOSAI Journal), SAI Saudi Arabia, SAI Korea, SAI Malaysia, SAI Russia, SAI Pakistan, SAI Philippines, SAI Turkey, and SAI Viet Nam.
 
Furthermore, the meeting welcomed two members of the Audit Committee of ASOSAI - SAI Azerbaijan, SAI Kazakhstan along with four observers including SAI Kuwait (Chair of the ASOSAI Working Group on Sustainable Development Goals), SAI Indonesia (Leader of the 13th ASOSAI Research Project; Secretariat of the ASEAN Supreme Audit Institutions – ASEANSAI), SAI United Arab Emirates (Chair of INTOSAI Working Group on Impact of Science and Technology of  the International Organisation Supreme Audit Institutions), INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI).
  
As per the tentative program, the 59th Meeting encompassed key activities including sideline meetings of the Committees and Working Groups of ASOSAI, the formal session of the 59th ASOSAI Governing Board meeting, and cultural programs, welcoming party hosted by the Chairman, Secretary General of ASOSAI and the host SAI.
 
In adherence to ASOSAI regulations, the Governing Board meeting deliberated on critical matters pertaining to ASOSAI including training; 13th research project; activities of specialized working groups; etablishment of working groups on state-owned enterprise, information technology audits and data analysis; proposal of establishing a new Working Group on regional audits; reports on activities of INTOSAI and ASEANSAI; extension of the term of the Secretary General of ASOSAI, election of the host the 26th INTOSAI Congress in 2028 and the host the 17th ASOSAI Assembly in 2027.
 
During the meeting, SAV’s delegation would actively participate in the meeting of the Task Force for research on ASOSAI Regulations (chaired by SAI China) and the ASOSAI Capacity Development Committee (chaired by SAI Japan); conduct thorough analyses and provide insightful comments to finalize the agenda reports at the Meeting, exercise its voting rights to approve the agenda reports and to elect the host the 26th INTOSAI Congress in 2028 and the host of the 17th ASOSAI Congress in 2027.
  
Moreover, SAV’s Delegation will engage in bilateral meetings on the sidelines with SAIs and participate in the 59th meeting to promote its candidacy for members of the ASOSAI Audit Committee for the 2024-2027 tenure in line with the candidacy project issued by SAV’s Auditor General in Decision No. 66/QD-KTNN dated February 10, 2023. Notably, the Delegation will hold the bilateral meeting with SAI Korea and pay a working visit to the Vietnamese Embassy in Korea.
  
The 59th meeting marks the first in-person Governing Board meeting since the conclusion of the public health emergency, following four consecutive virtual meeting sessions. This upcoming meeting will serve as a pivotal platform to foster robust relationships among member SAIs of the Governing Board and delve into critical ASOSAI-related matters./.
