(sav.gov.vn) – A delegation of the State Audit Office of Viet Nam (SAV) led by Deputy Auditor-General Bui Quoc Dzung will be paying a working visit in Finland and Sweden from January 22nd-25th, 2024.
The delegation shall consist of Leaders of International Cooperation Department, Legal Affairs Department, Specialised Audit Department No. III, Regional Audit Office No. XI, etc.
According to the plan, SAV will be participating in the 22nd meeting of Working Group of Environment Audit of the International Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI WGEA) held on January 22nd in Rovaniemi, Finland. The main topics of the meeting are Arctic environmental change and indigenous knowledge.
During the meeting, the delegates will have opportunity to obtain practical knowledge of tropical climate; the impacts of the climate change on the Arctic environment; geopolitical changes in Arctic region delivered by the Finnish and international presenters. There will also be workshops on developing sustainable environmental governance in Arctic region.
On the afternoon of the same day, the meeting will spend time discussing the notable issues, namely the concept of indigenous knowledge; traditional Knowledge in the UN Convention on Biological Diversity; New South Wales Audit Office Approach to First Nations; GAO’s Work on Tribal and Native American Issues; Auditing Social Forestry Program: Applying Indigenous Knowledge in Forest Management to Achieve Sustainable Development; Rural communities’ Traditional knowledge to deal with the Environment in Arab Republic of Egypt, etc.. The presentation will be delivered by the respective members of the Working Group.
From January 23rd – 25th, the delegation will be participating in the INTOSAI-Donor workshop of which focus will be on Nexus Area: Climate and Biodiversity; sustainability reporting; etc. in the Workshop on System of Environmental-Economic Accounting; discussing the activities of INTOSAI WGEA Assembly.
Within the framework of the visit, the Deputy Auditor-General will have a bilateral courtesy meeting with the Auditor General of SAI Finland to discuss the future cooperative orientation and plan between the two SAIs. The conversation is expected to usher in a new potential of cooperation in the bilateral and multilateral framework.
The year 2023 marks a significant milestone as the two countries celebrate 50th year anniversary of their diplomatic relations (1973-2023). Back to the past 50 years, people have been witnessing the increasingly cemented and close friendship of Viet Nam and Finland. Their multi-faceted bilateral relationships are becoming more robust and in-depth.
Following the program in Finland, the Delegation from January 27th – 29th will be paying a working visit to SAI Sweden (SNAO), with the experience to be shared in respect of environmental audit, performance audit process, recent audit results as well as the application of audit standards into performance audits and financial audits.
From SAV, Chief Auditor of the Specialised Audit Department No. III Le Tung Lam will deliver the presentation on environmental audit in SAV 30-year development journey, focusing on SAV’s endeavor from the outset of application of environmental audit into SAV.
Also within the visit in Sweden, the Delegation will visit Viet Nam Embassy based in this country./.
