(sav.gov.vn) – On the morning of 14 November, at the headquarters of the State Audit Office of Viet Nam (SAV), Auditor General Ngo Van Tuan hosted a courtesy meeting with His Excellency Ali Akbar Nazari, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran, along with his Third Secretary Moslem Golestan.

Present at the meeting were Mr. Nguyen Ba Dzung, Director General of the International Cooperation Department, representatives from the Administrative Department and International Cooperation Department.
At the beginning of the meeting, Auditor General Ngo Van Tuan expressed his gratitude to Ambassador Ali Akbar Nazari for his visit to SAV and for the Ambassador’s interest in the audit activities and cooperation between the two Audit Offices. He also expressed hope that the Embassy would continue to serve as a bridge for and further promote cooperation between the two institutions.
Ambassador Ali Akbar Nazari thanked SAV for its warm and attentive reception, and expressed his delight at the ongoing positive development of relations between Viet Nam and Iran, noting the significant successes achieved in recent times.
Both the Auditor General Ngo Van Tuan and Ambassador Ali Akbar Nazari reviewed some notable achievements of the two countries in recent years. Ambassador Nazari emphasized: "The leaders of both countries are very committed to enhancing the relationship between our two nations for the benefit of our people. Therefore, I hope we can work together to turn these aspirations into reality."
Ambassador Ali Akbar Nazari also expressed his pleasure that both SAV and the Iranian Supreme Court of Audit had been elected members of the ASOSAI (Asian Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions) Audit Committee. He highlighted that this provided a significant opportunity to further strengthen the relationship between the two SAIs, as well as between the two countries.
In response to Ambassador Nazari's remarks, Auditor General Ngo Van Tuan thanked him for sharing information about the strong ties between Viet Nam and Iran. He emphasized that, in addition to addressing violations, particularly in the management and use of public finance and assets, SAV actively contributes to the improvement of the legal system to enhance the efficiency of public financial and asset management.
"The mission and responsibilities of SAV are increasingly significant. We therefore seek to cooperate with SAIs around the world, including the Iranian Supreme Audit Court, to learn from and exchange best practices, especially in areas where both sides have strengths to complement one another, helping us fulfill our duties effectively," stated Mr. Ngo Van Tuan.
Discussing future cooperation plans, the Ambassador conveyed Iranian Supreme Court of Audit’s desire to continue strengthening ties with SAV. To further enhance bilateral cooperation and promote the exchange of experience, SAV hoped that the Iranian Embassy would play a vital role in facilitating concrete cooperative activities, such as delegations and experts exchanging, and the sharing of expertise in audit areas where both institutions excel.
On 11 November 2024, SAV received a letter from the Iranian SAI requesting a visit from its Chairman to Viet Nam, along with a proposal to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). In response, SAV warmly welcomed the Iranian delegation for 2025 to implement meaningful professional activities, such as organizing a forum to exchange experience in public sector auditing, which will lay the groundwork for the signing of the MoU after 2025.
In the multilateral cooperation framework, SAV highly values the strong support and active collaboration of the Iranian Supreme Court of Audit in various ASOSAI and INTOSAI forums.
SAV also acknowledges the significant contributions of the Iranian counterpart within ASOSAI. It is confident that, with its extensive experience and recognized achievements, the Iranian SAI will continue to receive broad support from the ASOSAI community, further contributing to the collective benefits of ASOSAI.
In particular, Auditor General Ngo Van Tuan once again congratulated SAI Iran on its successful election to the ASOSAI Audit Committee for the term 2024-2027 at the 16th ASOSAI Assembly in India. Looking ahead, the SAV hopes that, building on the strong cooperation between the two institutions, both SAIs will continue to support each other and strengthen cooperation through information exchange and experience sharing, thereby coordinating effectively to fulfill their common tasks in the ASOSAI Audit Committee.
At the close of the meeting, Mr. Ngo Van Tuan expressed his appreciation to Ambassador Nazari for his interest in SAV and a strong desire for the bilateral relationship between SAV and the Iranian counterpart to continue to grow in a practical and effective manner.
