(sav.gov.vn) - On November 18-19, in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, a delegation of the State Audit Office of Viet Nam, led by Deputy Auditor General Ha Thi My Dzung, attended the Global Summit of the Development Initiatives (IDI) of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI).
The Summit focused on the impact of audits on achieving sustainable development goals and attracted over 100 international delegates (including 13 Auditors General) from Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs), as well as representatives from international organizations from more than 30 countries to attend face to face and more than 300 delegates to attend online.
At the opening of the Summit, the Auditor General of Georgia extended a warm welcome to the participants, expressing gratitude to the SAIs and international organizations that send delegates to the Global Summit in the historic and culturally rich country of Georgia.
In her opening speech, IDI Deputy Director Archana Shirsat highlighted that the Summit's topics were of global concern and commended the SAIs for their open discussions, valuable contributions, and the sharing of useful experience.
The President of the Brazilian Federal Court of Accounts, the President of INTOSAI, emphasized that the "Global Trends Report", which was published at the INTOSAI Governing Board meeting in October 2024, identified seven global trends expected to significantly impact SAIs over the next 15 years. These include: erosion of trust in institutions, economic challenges and debt, digital transformation, climate change, widening demographic shifts, global migration, and rising inequality.
The "Global Trends Report" stresses that international cooperation and the exchange of best practices are essential to enhancing forecasting capabilities and improving audit quality worldwide, with a focus on digital transformation and sustainable development. These were also the key topics to be discussed during the two-day summit.
At the summit, SAIs exchanged views on the role of leadership in ensuring the relevance of SAIs to the digitalization process and sustainable development, as well as in maintaining their relevance to emerging trends.
SAV delegation, along with other SAIs’delegations, participated in discussions on topics such as: Demostrating value by contributing to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (SDGs); Uniting voices for an equal future: Why does a focus on equality and inclusion matter in SAI Audits; Creating a global picture of SAIs contribution to SDG implementation, follow-up and review; Auditing for a liveable planet; The impact of digitalisation: Addressing challenges and seizing opportunities for SAIs; and in-depth discussions on the summits and the outcomes.
To remark the successful implementation of audits and audit strategies related to climate change responses, sustainable development goals, and inclusivity, the Summit also aimed to predict new trends and develop methods for SAIs to respond in the context of rapid global changes. The Summit, along with its focused discussions, was considered a great success and met the expectations of the participating delegates.
