On 22 and 23 November 2017, the SAV organized in Hanoi a test-based examination for selection of liaison officers (L/O) for the 14th ASOSAI Assembly.
An interviewee is tested on his English language competence
Examiners are from SAV’s International Cooperation Department, the State Protocol Department and the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam. Examinees include 85 public servants of the SAV and 60 students of the Diplomatic Academy. The examination is conducted in the form of a 5-7 minutes interview per candidate. The questions used in this test focuses on general communication skills. Social knowledge and case studies will be provided to L/O in training courses after the selection stage.
During the test, the candidates’ competence in English is assessed based on five criteria of equal importance including fluency and consistency; pronunciation; vocabulary and grammar. Other criteria are personal style, gestures and ability to handle the questions. The results are ranked on three levels including "Unsatisfied", "Pass" and "Good" based on the 10-point scale. Candidates who meet all 5 criteria at the "pass" level or higher will be selected to become LO for the 14th ASOSAI Assembly.
After participating in the training, the liaison team will be equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge in reception, diplomatic etiquettes, socio-economic and cultural knowledge to meet the role of liaison for serving the 14th ASOSAI Assembly, an important event of Vietnam in general and the SAV in particular.
