Deputy Auditor General Nguyen Quang Thanh pays a working visit to Indonesia

At the invitation of the Audit Board of Indonesia, SAV Delegation led by Deputy Auditor General Nguyen Quang Thanh paid a working visit to Indonesia from 24-28 November 2019.

SAV Delegation works with BPK 

The working visit aims to further boost cooperation between SAV and BPK in a bilateral framework and in multilateral forums, and achieve outcomes of the Programme EU-PFMO – Capacity building support to the SAV to improve accountability, transparency and oversight of public financial management.


In the framework of the visit, the SAV Delegation worked with BPK in Jakarta in the morning of 25 November. At the meeting, BPK Chairman Agung Firman Sampurna said that after the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, the two SAIs conducted a wide range of practical activities to further improve the relationship such as sharing experience, providing technical assistance, organizing workshops and training courses on performance audit, environmental audit and construction audit. In 2018, BPK supported the SAV to conduct environmental audits regarding waste water management in Bac Ninh industrial zone and development of Guidelines for Environmental Audit. Both SAIs also closely cooperates with each other in the framework of ASEANSAI, ASOSAI and INTOSAI in order to improve public financial management practices.


While expressing his pleasure to visit and work with BPK, Mr. Nguyen Quang Thanh affirmed that capacity building and audit quality improvement have been identified as the top priority of SAV towards successful implementation of SAV Development Strategy until 2020 and the smooth running of ASOSAI Chairman during 2018 – 2021. Currently, the SAV has been learning international experience to accomplish these two goals. Mr. Thanh also emphasized that BPK is one of SAV’s most important bilateral partners. Several high-level bilateral and technical visits have taken place in order to share experiences on issues of mutual interests, and thereby help to increase understanding between two SAIs and improve the training and research activities for building auditors’ capacity. 


Within the framework of the visit, the SAV had several meetings to share and exchange experiences with BPK’s affiliated units on important issues including risk-based audit approach; audit policy and quality control; improvement of the effectiveness of the monitoring activities after the audit; application of IT in auditing; human resourses training and management as well as enhancement of auditors’ capacity.
